Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Pharmaceutical Chemistry Admissions Process

Welcome to the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry! It is my opinion that selecting a Ph.D. program represents one of the most important decisions that you will make in your professional career, or perhaps in your lifetime. I, therefore, urge you to take the time to gather as much information as is possible about all the potential programs that interest you and make the most informed decision as is possible. Having said this, I believe that you have made a great initial step in considering our Department for graduate studies.

The quality and impact of the Ph.D. thesis project is something we take very seriously. We certainly expect and emphasize excellent performance in a rigorous set of core coursework offered by our program; however, past experiences have shown that for those highly motivated students this is not a significant obstacle to the successful completion of the program. Rather, it is the high standards we set for the Ph.D. thesis itself. This also is what provides the most benefit to the student in their development into an independent research scientist possessing a solid scientific thought process and the confidence to handle new problems that they will encounter in their independent research careers, wherever these may be.

I wish you success in your search for the Ph.D. program that is most in tune with your interests and career aspirations. Please don’t hesitate in contacting me if I can benefit you in this important decision.

Jeff Krise, Ph.D.
