Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry

Distance Masters Program

Welcome to the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry!

We are very excited to offer a distance Masters program at the University of Kansas. This program features the same high-quality lectures and courses offered in our Ph.D. program, but will allow you to complete the program while still working. I believe that you have made a great initial step in considering our Department for graduate studies.

The quality and impact of the Masters thesis project is something we take very seriously. We certainly expect and emphasize excellent performance in a rigorous set of core coursework offered by our program. If you are a highly motivated student, this will not be a significant obstacle to the successful completion of the program. In a distance masters degree program, we would anticipate that students will usually take one course per semester. While taking courses and during the summers, students will also be performing their thesis research. Students who complete the program will receive a Masters degree from the University of Kansas, but more importantly, will have developed those skills to help them become an independent research scientist possessing a solid scientific thought process and the confidence to handle new problems that they will encounter in their independent research careers.

I hope that you find our program appealing, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any further questions.

J. Howard Rytting, Ph.D.
